Back by popular demand...

...we have the New England Patriots and the NY Football Giants facing off in a rematch of Superbowl XLII in just under two weeks.  I couldn't be more excited to see these two behemoths face off again.  Neither team looked dominant this past Sunday so it's anyone's game.  The Patriots will have to contend with a fearsome pass rush and a potent offense.  The Pats need their secondary to finally show up and play a full game if we are going to try and contain Manning, Nicks, and Cruz.  One thing I know is that Tom Brady will have nothing but ice cold revenge surging through his veins come game time.  Will he get his Inigo Montoya moment or will the Giants yet again snatch that fourth Superbowl victory from his grasp?  I for one can't wait to find out.

Also back today is this blog after almost a two week hiatus.  I apologize for not posting in a while but work has been dominating my life as of late.  So much so I only made it to the gym once last week.  I definitely could have made it more but I just didn't have the energy to get there.  Luckily one bad week isn't going to kill me so I'm gettin' after it again this week.  Shooting for three days at the gym plus I'm helping a buddy move this weekend so that should also burn some calories.

Today at the gym I did some good stretching plus added in a few jumping jacks to get the day going.  After that I jumped up on the elliptical for a quick 10 minute warm-up then hit the weights.  I ran through my range of motion testing and came up with bent over row, pull-up(assisted), and dead lift.  I was running around so much today I didn't have time to eat at all so I wasn't sure how the work out was gonna go but I pressed on anyway. For the most part I felt good with the bent over row at 24kg but I really wasn't able to crank out as many reps as I had last Thursday so I was definitely a little off.  Next up was the assisted pull-up where you do a pull-up but also use your legs to help take some of the weight off.  I find these to be much better than just sitting and using the overhead pull down machine, as you work your whole body instead of just sitting there.  Finally I fiinished up with the dead lift.  I put 55lbs on each side of the bar and went to town.  This felt really good and I was able to crank out 3 sets of 12.  I was pretty wiped at this point so I grabbed a protein shake and hightailed it outta there.

The music fueling this workout came from the Wildkats.  No they aren't from Kentucky and Goldie Hawn is not their football coach.  Wildkats are Edinburgh DJs Stuart Sandeman and Scott Dickie as well as US native Corie Baker.  Working out of East London this production collective has put out some truly remarkable music.  From their re-edit of Prince's Signs to their amazing mixes both solo and collectively these guys are a group on the rise to watch out for.  Today I listened to Inside of Our Private Parts and it was perfect for my workout clocking in at just over an hour.  Upbeat and varied all the way through, you can tell these guys possess some serious skills on the decks, but enough from me, I'll let you judge for yourself...
