Best laid plans...

No matter how much we plan sometimes things just don't go the way we want or expect them to.  For example I have been trying to write this blog post for at least a week now and I just haven't found the time to do it.  Thankfully I have been finding the time to go to the gym.  I was there 4 days last week and have already put in 3 days this week.  My plan for the new year was to go 5 days a week.  Monday, Wednesday, and Friday would be cardio and Tuesday and Thursday would be weight lifting.  I got close to that last week but couldn't get motivated Monday morning hence the 4 days.  This week I am on track for 5 days after a surge of energy at 9:30pm last night had me heading over to the gym for some late night lifting.  All in all I have been putting in some hard work so far this year and I feel better than ever.  What plans did you guys make for the new year?  Now that we are a little over a week in how have those plans worked out so far?  I would love to hear about it in the comments below.

Since I haven't posted in a week I have done a lot of different workouts and way to many to run through the whole list here but I'll give a couple highlights.  Last Thursday I increased the weight on my bent over rows from 20kg up to 24kg.  I knew this had to be coming soon as it was getting easier and easier at the 20kg level.  I have also seen my cardio improving over the first 2 weeks of the year.  This morning I went 3.2 miles in 34 minutes and had an average heart rate of 150bpm during that time.  Just last week I was only able to go between 2.2 and 2.5 miles in the same amount of time.  Other than that it has been business as usual with a couple trips to the Captain's Chair as well as some deadlifts and calf presses.  The only thing I haven't really been able to do is is squats and lunges as I'm still experiencing some pain in my left knee.  This seems to be getting better daily though and I hope to get back to those exercises as soon as possible.  Overall I feel completely energized and ready to tackle anything!

There was a bevy of amazing mixes by many artists providing the energy for these workouts over the last week but today I want to talk about one in particular, Night Plane.  Night Plane is William Rauscher's solo project.  William is also a part of CCC, who are doing amazing audio visual work out of NYC, and is also a regular contributor to Resident Advisor, which is a site you should definitely check out if you have any interest in electronic music.  Check out the page at CCCCommunications to see some of the cool stuff that they have going on right now.  The following is probably my favorite mix that I listened to all of last year entitled, Live from the Dream House, and let me tell you it lives up to it's name.  The dreamy and wishy washy soundscapes blend perfectly with the house beats and implementation of some wonderfully layered guitar work.  The impressive thing about this mix is that every track is either a Night Plane original or a remix/edit done by him.  This will keep your energy energy up through any workout!!!

As always enjoy the tunes and stay positive and energized in 2012!

Much Love,
