Consistency is King

The key to finding and maintaining your energy is consistency, something I have been sorely lacking lately. My exercise bag sat in my car for 3 full days this week before finally making it to the gym today.  I'm realizing with my new schedule that if I want to be consistent with my workouts and start seeing some real results the only time to do that is in the mornings before work.  Some days this will be easier than others and I have been training my body to get used to waking up earlier but I need to push it a little farther and make sure I don't miss any workouts!  I have to set a schedule and stick to it.  My new bare minimum gym schedule is now going to be lifting weights Tues/Thurs/Sat and at least 1 more day during the week of cardio.  I really want to start swimming and plan to try to throw that into the mix next week as well.  I haven't lost any weight in the last week or so but I haven't gained any either and I definitely feel myself growing stronger so I guess that puts January as a generally positive month but it's time to take it to the next level and really start doing some work.

Today I warmed up and stretched out really good then hit the weights.  Started off with some tricep dips  and felt pretty good.  Next I moved on to some bench crunches, since I felt like switching it up from the Captain's Chair.  These have definitely gotten easier and I was able to get 10/set consistently for 4 sets.  I then headed over to do some deadlifts.  I was feeling really good by this point so I kicked the weight up a notch by adding a 5 pounder to each side of the bar bringing the grand total to 60lbs on each side.  I was able to push through 3 sets of 12 at this new weight and was faster then the last time I did this exercise.  Finally I grabbed a 24kg kettlebell and rocked some bent over rows to finish out the day.

Rockin' in the headphones today was a new mix from Tiger & Woods. Not a lot is known about this mysterious duo except that they freakin' rock and know how to bring the space-funk-disco to the dance floor like no other.    High energy all the way through I found myself bopping through my workout as I pinball'd around the gym.  I hope it keeps you movin' and sweatin' all the way through your workout!  Enjoy!

Much love...

- Ian

  1. Glad to see you back at it! Training yourself to get up early is the hardest training of all!
