Now back to our regularly scheduled program...

Well after a very long, celebratory weekend that saw stops in Atlantic City, New York City, and Washington D.C. I am finally getting back to the gym today.  Car trouble and laziness kept me sidelined yesterday and I vowed to not let that happen again today.  I can't believe almost a full week has gone by since I have been at the gym(and posted).  It just goes to show how easy it is to let it get away from you.  Consistency is key and I should have found a way over to the gym yesterday.  There is always so much going on in the last several weeks of the year that the gym can so easily fall by the wayside.  We can't let this happen!  We must be diligent or we will pay the price in a lack of energy as well as a more difficult road once we get back to working out.  I hit the gym 2 days last week which just really is not enough.  The bare minimum needs to be at least 3 days a week and I like to try and shoot for 5 but usually end up in the middle of those two numbers at 4.  If I want to hit that number this week it's going to have to be 4 days in a row as I have another jam packed weekend ahead.

On day one I hit the ground running(elliptical-ing? ha).  Standard warm up for only about 6 minutes today as the elliptical I was on did not exactly feel stable.  Next up was my favorite, bent over rows with the 20kg kettlebell.  These felt great today and I had a ton of energy as I powered through 4 monster sets.  I then did 3 sets of bench crunches and a couple sets of lunges at which point my legs were screaming at me.  Just for good measure I did some calf presses on the 40 degree leg press to finish the workout strong and keep building strength in my ankles.

Today's beats were provided by one of my favorite artists that I have discovered this year, Mustang.  Mustang is the brain child of Belgium super producer/DJ/all-around-magic-maker Andy Faisca.  From the artist's website :

His obsession in all things Italo Disco, House and Classic Pop formed his proper sound of today.  Until today, Mustang did remixes for the likes of Vitalic, Poni Hoax, Two Door Cinema Club, Manarchy, Japanese Popstars and most recently Crystal Fighters.  His fantastic new single 'Shooting Love' released on Different recordings has been remixed by Jeremy Glenn and Black Strobe.
Remember the name, remember Mustang.

Trust me this is definitely a name you will want to remember.  Today we have Mustang's October 2011 Mixtape which washes over your mind and body with layer upon layer of psychedelic synths over deep and bouncing disco basslines with some fantastic vocals thrown into the mix.  After revisiting this mix again tonight I realized it is not only my favorite Mustang mix of the year, but it is one of my favorite mixes of the year by any artist. It just smokes from start to finish with pure blinding energy.

As always I hope you enjoy the music and as your instructor Arnold says in track 2....

"More energy!"
