Merry Disco Eve!!

When I went to the gym with my mother today this quote struck a particular nerve with me.  All I have been doing for the past year is lying on the tracks and waiting for the train to come rolling through.  Fortunately for me with the passing of each new year, month, day, hour, minute and second there is an opportunity for change, a time to do the right thing.  I have been neither wise nor brave over the past year.  This is something I am going to change.  Something I must change in order to survive.  I will no longer lay on the tracks.  I will be the conductor of my own destiny.  I will be brave.  I will be wise.  I will not let myself be derailed from the path I have set forth for myself.  This is a particularly tough week to get to the gym and put in work but I made it happen 2 days.  I feel like that is something to be proud of during the holiday season when fitness can so easily fall by the wayside.  As I constantly preach on here, consistency is key, and for me anything less than two days, is not only inconsistent, but is also considered a failure.  We didn't have a lot of time for today's work out, and I woke up with my shoulder hurting like a motherfucker, but some movement is always better than none and I have to say after working out my shoulder feels much better than it did earlier in the day.

Kettlebell Snatch Diagram
Today I started out with some light stretching and then my usual cardio warm up.  After that I started testing all my movements and nothing was really exceptional today, but the best by far was the kettlebell snatch.  I did 2 sets with a 15kg bell.  The pain in my shoulder had subsided before this when I was warming up on the elliptical.  I know when you are sore and in pain the last thing you want to do is hit the gym, but sometimes movement is exactly what your body needs.  After I was done with the kettlebell I moved on to some lunges.  Due to time constraints, I only did 2 sets.  I still feel like this was a very worthwhile trip to the gym because the only other thing I would have been doing at that time is laying around and watching tv.  While this was far from the most intense workout of all time, the music I was listening to wouldn't let me stop moving as I danced and hopped around the gym floor.

Today's workout mix comes from the wonderful mind of my main man Zimmer.  I honestly don't know much about the man or where he comes from but what I do know is that he drops the disco heat and is bringing pure ENERGY into this world day in and day out.  I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he is from somewhere in Europe but again, none of this is confirmed.  Check out his website(or soundcloud page) to see all the great free music he has given us this year.  The mix below is pure disco magic and should be great for a workout as well as your family gatherings this weekend.  It will transport your parents back to the 70's while keeping you firmly planted in the here and now.
